The Half ton bowl

Now at only 30kg, this unique piece of Mandrone Burl weighed just over half a ton when in went on the lathe.

Magnificently figured all round, the distortion caused by the drying process sets this hollow form apart from any other.

This pale-red piece of eucalyptus burl has a natural edge.

The edge has been carbonised, cleaned and polished.

Naturally charred inclusions are featured within this piece, caused by bush fires.

The eucalyptus oil within the tree burns, then the tree regenerates, leaving attractive natural figuring.
